Tuttle Creek State Park and Kansas State Football – EMAW!
We took a quick kid-free trip to Manhattan, KS to watch a Kansas State football game. We stayed at the Rocky Ford Campground in Tuttle Creek State Park.
14 September 2018 – Kansas City to Tuttle Creek State Park
Once the kids got home from school and they got settled in with their grandparents, we hit the road for Manhattan, KS. Manhattan is about 2.5 hours west on I-70 from Kansas City. We got to Tuttle Creek State Park, checked-in, and set up the campsite. We drove into town for a bite and cruised campus for some nostalgia. After feeling way too old with all the college kids romping around on Friday night, we headed back to the campground.
15 September 2018 – Go Cats!
We took a slow quiet morning in the RV. We had breakfast and got ready to head towards campus. We met up with Erin’s cousin and husband for lunch on campus. After sharing some good food and laughs we split ways and headed to the stadium.
The Wildcats crushed the UTSA Roadrunners. The game was pretty entertaining and we had fun acting like college kids, if just for the day. After the game, we set out to have dinner at an old haunt, Coach’s Grill and Bar. It was a place we had dinner many times when we were dating and young newlyweds. Like the weekend, it was a nice trip down memory lane.
16 September 2018 – Tuttle Creek back Home
We slept in again and got moving. We packed up and drove the 2.5 hours home. The kids met us at the door with boo boo lips because they missed out on a Patty trip. They’ll be along next time!
A Short trip, but plenty more to come.
-See you out there
