Campground Review – Cannonville / Bryce Valley KOA

Cannonville / Bryce Valley KOA is a good value campground with great proximity to Bryce Canyon National Park.

A summer sunset coupled with the smoke from a wildfire over the Cannonville / Bryce Valley KOA

Location.  The campground is about 20 minutes from the Bryce Canyon National Park Visitor Center.  There are several campgrounds that are closer, but that shorter distance comes at a fiscal premium.  The campground is located near the intersection of two lightly traveled state highways.  We did not notice any significant traffic noise during our time in the campground.

Sites.  All sites are gravel.  The campground offers sites with just water and electric as well as sites with full hook-ups as well as back in and pull through.  The sites can be quite difficult to maneuver into.  Understanding the length of your rig is critical when communicating with the office.  Some of the larger rigs had some difficulty navigating parts of the campground and had to make 3+ point turns to get into their sites.

Our full hook-up, pull through site was a bit uneven, but nothing terrible considering that the campground is on the side of fairly steep hill.  Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring.  Each site was separated with bushes.  Some of the bush branches encroached quite far into the site.  There were signs posted all over noting that the bushes could not be trimmed or trampled by campers.  This was not ideal with where we wanted to place the rig and park our tow vehicle, but it didn’t dampen the stay.

Facilities.  The campground has two showerhouses.  We did not use the showerhouse attached to the main office, only the showerhouse towards the back of the park.  The shower, restroom and laundry areas showed some wear and age, but were cleaned regularly.  There are only two showers, which was less than ideal.  Also, there was not A/C in the building so the humidity of many showers coupled with the heat of the day was a bit stuffy unless we were actively in the shower.

Amenities.  The campground has a pool that looked nice and clean.  We didn’t have time to use it.  The KOA also has a playground.  The equipment was a bit old school:  tether ball, see saw, concrete pipes to crawl through, etc.  The kids loved it.  There were also “Kamp Kitchens” which are outdoor kitchens for anyone to use.  The site lists a few more.

Conclusion.  The Cannonville / Bryce Valley KOA is well-run.  All the facilities were cleaned regularly and maintained.  Some sites were a bit tight to get into, but the price for full hook-ups and proximity to Bryce Canyon National Park make this RV park a good stay.

Would We Stay Again?  Yes.
